We started the Overland Trek with Tasmanian Expeditions on the 28th of Dec 2015 for 6 days and it was an amazing holiday we will never forget. Yes, carrying a full backpack is heavy but it's perfectly doable and the guides ensure that you can walk at your own pace. The guides, George and Holly, were outstanding and really did a great job. They were always cheerful, smiling, in a good mood and encouraging the group. The food they prepared was very good, I was actually positively surprised. The equipment provided was of good quality. I was a bit unfortunate with having been provided with an inflatable mattress which deflated itself during the night but the guides did their best effort to find a solution. The scenery of the whole trek is varied and very beautiful. We even saw a large wombat walking across the path! I'd definitely recommend this trip and Tasmanian Expeditions to anyone.

Julien P. Manly, NSW. Aust.

A challenging, but not overly difficult walk, that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age, as long they do a little training beforehand, carrying a back pack. The diversity of the landscape makes every day a new experience. The guides have a wealth of experience on the area, and will ensure you are well looked after during the whole trip. If this is something you are considering, just do it, you won't regret it.

Experiencing the Overland Track through Tasmanian Expeditions was the best choice I could have made. It's clear that their guides truly love what they do and want to help others enjoy Tasmania too. They allow you to immerse yourself in your surroundings on your own, while providing valuable information about the history of the area and it's current state. Given the chance, I'd travel with them again without thinking twice about it. The highlight for me was making it to the top of Mt. Ossa and being the tallest thing on Tasmania, if only for 5 minutes. I even managed to get phone service up there, and called my parents in New Jersey, USA. I didn't know what to expect coming into this trip. I'm new to hiking but I love the outdoors. Our guides, Oscar and Holly, were extremely friendly, helpful, and professional throughout the whole trek, and really made the whole experience enjoyable. If I do another trip in Australia, I hope I get them as guides again.

The scenery was amazing but our excellent, knowledgable and friendly guides (Will and Gemma) and a wonderful group of fellow walkers made the trip especially meaningful.

W. Jones. Lennox Head, NSW.

Will and Gemma are fantastic guides. Will was extremely competent and I felt like I was in very safe hands. It was great having a female guide. Gemma was inspiring and great company.

K. Grech. Marrickville, NSW.

Immensely enjoyed it. The organisation and opportunities available for all side trips and options. And the food. Both Holly and George were excellent guides. Am definitely doing another TasEx trip.

J. Demonteverde. Rhodes, NSW.

The 6 day guided overland track with Tasmanian Expeditions was absolutely wonderful. Our guides - Will & Wez - were caring, informative and made the experience one to cherish. The equipment provided was first class & kept me warm through the snowy nights. The whole show was professional with attention to detail - from the per-departure briefings to providing sweet treats along our hike.

I will definitely be back to bushwalk in Tasmania with Tas Ex again.

Jen W via Trip Advisor

The trip was wonderful and they guides were so patient and informative. I wouldn't have been able to finish without them. The weather was perfect which made the surrounds so much more enjoyable. I had an amazing time. Thank you :)

N. Szybinski. TAS, Australia

My friend and I joined the Overland Track trip (1 March departure). Everything was so well organised and the pre-departure briefing provided an opportunity to ask the guides what gear to take & get their advice (we took more than we needed to Launceston and left a bag at the office). The guides also checked our gear to make sure it was suitable - safety is their priority which was reassuring. Our guides Paul and Will were absolutely fabulous and so knowledgeable about the Tassie wilderness - flora/fauna, mountain ranges, landscapes, traditional owners - something we would not have been able to get doing the hike by ourselves. The gear that Tas Ex supplied was very good quality - the sleeping bags were warm (even with snow!!), mats were comfy, and the tents were sturdy and easy to set up. There was so much food on the trip - the two food drops saved us carrying 6 days worth of food and also meant we had fresh salad ingredients for lunches. I couldn't fault Tas Ex and would highly recommend them as a professional, safe company with knowledgeable and experienced guides. I can say the same for my World Expeditions experience I had in Nepal last year (which was one of the reasons we chose Tas Ex for the Overland Track).

K. Smallwood. Cammerary, NSW.

The Overland Track was conducted in a very professional manner, using a winning formula. The organisation was superb, making for a hassle-free trip. Everything was taken care of: equipment, camping gear, food and meals, The knowledge and enthusiasm of the guides was first-class. The numerous side trips along the way made the trip so much more enjoyable, especially the climb up Mt Ossa. It was truly memorable.

P. Downey. North Bondi, NSW.

Overall the trip was fantastic, with great guides and a good friendly bunch within the group. The Overland trek was a really spectacular walk. The guides were terrific and the overall experience made for a truly memorable holiday.

P. Sprague. Gloucestor, UK.

Lily and Simon were amazing guides and the entire group had so much humor! One of the coolest things I've ever done!

M. Kuipers. Rotterdam, Netherlands.

I had been wanting to walk the Overland Track for 25 years. It took me 25 years to do my first multi-day hike, which was the Overland Track. Everything about the trip exceeded my expectations. It is one of the best things I have ever done.

W. Newcomen Bairnsdale, VIC.

The Overland Track was an outstanding trip. The scenery was spectacular. We spotted lots of wildlife. The side-trips were diverse (mountains, lakes, waterfalls...) and rewarding. The challenges of varied terrain, adverse weather conditions and camp catering were managed admirably by our charming, well-informed, reliable and patient guides. Thanks for sharing this wonderful adventure.

B. Green Bangkok, Thailand.

I loved every minute of the trip, even when it was hailing horizontally on us on day one! I really appreciated the enthusiasm of our guides Will and Ryan, their knowledge of the environment and the history of the track. Having never done any full pack hiking I felt really well supported and would do it all again tomorrow if I could. I can't wait to do another trek! Thank you to Tas Ex for providing such a great experience, I'll definitely be back for more.

S. Pryor. Darlinghurst, NSW.

The food provided for my "no dairy" diet was excellent. I loved the beauty of the terrain on the Overland Track and our guides Will and Lily did a great job of enriching our understanding of the environment. It was fun, friendly, well managed and overall a memorable experience. My only incident was that I strained some muscles early in the trip and felt that the advice i was given by the guide didn't allay my concern (and I don't complain easily). Luckily, a doctor within the group came to the rescue and suggested a treatment plan that enabled me to regain my confidence and ease my discomfort.

M. Martin. Sadlers Crossing, QLD.

The guides Matilda and Abigail were excellent - did far more than I was expecting the guides to do and really knew their stuff.

J. Whitehead. Wahroonga, NSW.

Having recently completing the Overland Track , id would like thank the guides , Matilda and Abigail, for making the trip that much more enjoyable. They were great fun, well prepared and very informative. Its such an amazing place down there and i am keen to head back asap!
Thanks again.

P. Bourke. Mooroolbark, VIC.

I appreciated the effort made to accommodate my dietary requirements. Matilda and Abigail's knowledge and experience was evident. That gave us an enormous amount of reassurance about our capability and safety during a trip that took us well out of our comfort zones. They were also great company; a lot of fun. Big thanks to Matilda and Abigail.

Stacey P. Carwoola, NSW.

It is a challenge, so do it with tasmanian expedition

U. Langer. Ruthen, Germany.

Walking with a heavy pack was challenging however our guides (Lilly and Will) eased us to the tough parts of the trail and took excellent care of us (even providing freshly brewed coffee!). They had a wealth of knowledge and stories to share about the history of the track, and made the Overland track a magical and memorable journey.

G. Abeywardane. Macquarie Park, NSW.

Just had to write to you to thank you so much for squeezing me on to last week's Overland Track adventure (Sun 28th Dec - Fri 2nd Jan 2015).

I can't thank you all enough - it was probably the hardest thing I've ever done but have been on a high ever since we all jumped off the jetty into the 'refreshing' waters of Lake St Clair in celebration last Friday morning.

I have to make special mention of the two incredible young women guides, Matilda and Abigail, who by turns inspired us, made us laugh and never failed in their extraordinary enthusiasm throughout the entire trip. THANK YOU,

Can't wait to plan my next adventure.

S. Thomson. North Brighton, SA, Australia.

A not to be missed adventure in Tasmania. We chose the six day, full backpack, camping option.
This is not a casual " stroll through the park " , and together with driving hail and gale force winds whilst ascending Cradle Mountain, and rain most days, it was also very challenging. In spite of that, we enjoyed the experience immensely, and would recommend it to anyone with a sense of adventure and a desire to enjoy the beautiful nature that abounds throughout the Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair National Park. Tasmanian Expeditions were totally professional at every level of service provided., Our guides were the difference between an ordinary and an exceptional experience with creative cooking skills...ongoing support and encouragement at all times and detailed knowledge of the Track and it's history. Accept the challenge...you will not be disappointed.

Rogeria I. Brisbane, QLD. Australia

Extremely happy with the tour. Both guides were fantastic. Enjoyed our time thoroughly. Will book future holidays with Tasmanian Expeditions.

S. Dennehy. Keilor, Vic. Australia

I would like to pass my compliments back to TaxEx management for my recent Overland Track trek.

I was very impressed with the guides Darren and Stephanie. Their constant energy, good nature, extensive knowledge and professionalism made the trip an adventure I will fondly remember. I have already articulated my positive experience and regard for the guides to a number of fellow trekkers contemplating the Overland Track.

D. Black. Bardon. QLD.

Just wanted to thank you and Tasmanian Expeditions for our recent trek on the Overland Track (Jan 19th – 24th).

We found you great to deal with, answering any queries we had promptly and nothing seemed to be any trouble.

We also want to thank our guides, Ken and Jake. Both were obviously very experienced guides and were happy to impart their knowledge of the area onto us. We are sure we would never have seen or learnt a lot of the things we did had we done this trek independently. They helped to make our trip fun (even though some of it was hard work), they were happy to assist us when we asked (even to fix glasses), and we learnt new phrases – ‘Be bold, start off cold!’ and ‘a few Undulations’ (lots of hills!).

We couldn’t believe the amount of fresh food that was prepared for us and they catered very well for my Gluten free diet which I appreciated. (Laurie would like to thank them for introducing him to the ‘Snickers wrap’!).

We couldn’t fault anything in the whole experience, from the equipment you provide, the rest of the people in our group, and the weather. We would be more than happy to recommend you to anyone who was looking to undertake an experience with an adventure company.

Thank you again.

M & L Richards. Rutherglen, Vic. Australia.

Simon & Stef were awesome. Really, I cannot fault them at all. As a vegan, I was really impressed with the way Simon & Stef managed to cater for my dietary requirements. I was never hungry and never felt like I was ‘missing out’. Thanks SOOOOO much!

T Armer. Macgregor, ACT. Australia

It was a real treat to have hot drinks to wake up to and not have to worry about cooking and washing up. I liked the interpretation and stories, history, animals, birds, landscape – and would actually have preferred more. I felt safe and everything was thought of – especially food and cooking.

H. Box. NSW, Australia.

A challenging but enjoyable trip that was enhanced by the knowledge and enthusiasm of our guides

M. Cronin. Wellington, NZ

The trip was absolutely brilliant. The only reason I would rate the equipment as Fair (to poor) is the thermarest was very difficult to inflate (and very uncomfortable). If I had known, I would have brought my own which is very comfortable. Also the rain jacket was very smelly (from day 1) and was pretty useless (needs re-proofing or some TLC), again wish I had brought my own. The packs were great, very comfortable and perfect size. Sleeping bag great. Advice and stories from the guides was great and very informative. They were very patient with us all. Glad I did sufficient pre-trip training at boot camp. To friends who have no other way of doing treks such as this I would certainly recommend, as it’s a great way to go when you don’t want to go on your own. I would however suggest they take more of their own gear to ensure they enjoy it. The guides were very helpful, as a solo traveller this is a great way to go.

C. Pfitzner. Chuwar, QLD. Australia

Both guides were brilliant and their combined work contributed to ensure that the groups journey had the optimal conditions for success. I think they provided the right amount of support & encouragement to a bunch of relatively novice bushwalkers, while still allowing us to experience the challenge of the trek

T. Facer. Corio, VIC. Australia

I truly loved the trip. Everything was fantastic. The guides exceeded our expectations. Especially Kim who was extremely knowledgeable, smart, loved good conversations, helpful. Nothing was too much, very safety conscious and a fab cook. The guides made the trip even more memorable.

H. Schwarz Toorak, VIC, Australia.

This is somewhat belated but I want to thank everyone at Tasmanian Expeditions for the wonderful experience I had walking the Overland track which left Cradle Mountain on 28 December with Nick and Darren as guides. I was most impressed with the level of organisation and how well we were looked after. As an expat Tasmanian it has been a goal of mine for a long time to walk the Overland track, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I was particularly pleased that we climbed Mount Ossa, even though it was shrouded in mist. Nick and Darren did a great job feeding us. Please pass on my thanks to both of them.

Next walk I hope to do with Tas Ex is the Walls of Jerusalem.

H. Nichols. Albany, WA. Aust.

The guides very quickly assessed the capabilities of the group and tailored each day’s plans and their time accordingly. They’re advice ensured realistic expectations based on the weather (which was crap!!) to minimise disappointment amongst the group and they maintained their sense of humour throughout. Their knowledge of and enthusiasm for Tasmania enhanced the magnificent environment.
Overall, the trip was fantastic – the crap weather just provided much entertainment in later story telling!!

Joscelyn Oates. Australia

I have just completed the 6 day trek, a holiday of a lifetime. I feel like it truly changed my outlook of life. I have a new sense of respect for our environment and high level of appreciation of the flora and fauna. I can truly see why it is heritage listed and why people say it is so beautiful. I have made wonderful and hilarious friends that I hope to keep for a lifetime. Our guides Nick and Darren were phenomenal, from their knowledge of the history about Tasmania to their cooking and company - I honestly couldn't fault one thing. They were extremely patient with the first time whingy back at the pack types (aka me). Thank you SO much, I hope to do the Walls of Jerusalem at some stage this year with a few of the people that were of this trip and we have collaborated and will request the same guides and see how many "man points" they can earn.

Bri Nelson. Neutral Bay, NSW, Australia

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a beautiful, unique place with amazing plants and animals unlike anything I have seen in the USA. The group was international and everyone had a good sense of humor and a good attitude in spite of some challenging weather, and the physical challenge of the hike. The guides were cheery and good cooks, and knowledgeable about the natural and human history of Tasmania. I had a great time!

K Bourzac. San Francisco, CA, USA

Had a fantastic trip with a wonderful group and excellent tour guides. Thanks for taking such good care of us. I can highly recommend TasEx for anyone travelling on his/her own!

G. Heuck. Switzerland

I really appreciate the opportunity to do side trips (I realise weather dependent) and climbing Barn Bluff and Mt Ossa were real highlights.

Duncan McKay. Sydney, AUST

Overall the trip exceeded my original expectation.

Soon-Lee LIM. Parramatta, NSW, Aust

I felt it would have been helpful to receive information about the challenges of the terrain (mud, tree roots, etc.) at the time of booking as this would have influenced how I prepared for the trip. One of our guides, Jake, was exceptional at finding a good pace for our hiking, assuring people were keeping up and enjoying their time on the trail.

Katherine Pearson. Rochester, MN. USA

The pack list is very useful. Stef and Ken were brilliant. Also the combination of the two worked out very well.

J van Gilst & G Prins. Den Haag, The Netherlands.

Ken, Ben and Kat were outstanding guides, providing invaluable information & support throughout the whole trip; without them, the whole experience would not have been as memorable.Amazing staff - they are an asset to your company - deserve a raise!

Alison Kirwan. Sydney, AUST

Our guides, Ben and Brenton, were the reason our holiday was so enjoyable. They were always looking out for us, particularly when I was struggling, and always made me feel like I could do it. There were both amazing.

C. Lister Alderley, QLD. Aust.

Just back from the 6 day Overland track trip led by Ken, Ben and Cat. Awesome trip which challenges you mentally and physically especially with snow, rain and cold. Tas Ex guides were brilliant keeping our large group fed and hot drinked throughout; they were knowledgeable, entertaining, inclusive and well organised. Nothing was too much trouble. Scenery is amazing and if you want an amazing experience which will stay with you for the rest of your life, don't miss this trip! Great group to be with too! Thanks guys

Pam W. via Trip Advisor

Back in Melbourne I want to let you know that I had a wonderful experience on the overland track. With my 63 years I made it! I was so pleased to achieve this. Thanks to the perfect organisation and the good care of the guides.

Daniella Buis The Netherlands

Our guides Victor & Matt made the trip – we were novice long distance walkers & inexperienced campers but their patience and understanding was greatly appreciated and has encouraged us to look forward to future treks. Thanks so much for making our 29th Wedding Anniversary so memorable.
We have relived our Tassie walk many times over – in fact each time we‘re back in the bush memories flood back from our trip Thanks once again to the staff for a fabulous adventure.

Jenny Hall Australia

The trip was amazing all round. We had a great group of people and the weather could not have been better. I was truly impressed with the guides and their passion for Tasmania. The trip was well run without feeling overly structured. Great scenery, great food and amazing people – exceeding all of my expectations

Joanna MacLean Canada

The knowledge of the guides was brilliant and really made the trip a great success. The effort they put into everything from our safety to dessert was amazing - I am very impressed. This walk was above and beyond all of my expectations!

Chris Horn Australia

Both Nick and Matt were excellent guides and a credit to the organisation. Their enthusiasm & knowledge was really impressive. The trip was excellent, well organised and group size was good and of course the scenery was spectacular - Thank you!

Kylie Reid Australia

Both Victor & Matt were extremely knowledgeable of the local area, the trail, the environment (plants & animals) as well as being good fun to spend time with. It was impressive that the food was fresh throughout the trip, deliciously cooked & it catered for vegetarian and gluten free diets within the group. Our bedding was warm & comfortable and we are already looking forward to returning to Tassie!

Nancy O'Hare Canada

This is a fabulous trip for moderately fit people - age we found is no bar.
Victor and Ashley our guides were very encouraging, and we were lucky with beautiful weather. Cool at night and mostly fine days. The camp cooking was exceptional for wilderness cuisine. The wild flowers were stunning especially the prickly scaparia, of many hues. The buttongrass moorlands with mountains behid were vistas from heaven. This should be on all eco-friendly Australians' bucket list.

A & N Bencke NSW, Australia

I just wanted to send TasEx a quick note to say thank you for another wonderful trip, this time on the Overland!
As with the Franklin last year, the trip was extremely well organised and the equipment provided was excellent. Both Ash and Dan were fantastic guides - competent and friendly, full of interesting conversation and very good at managing/supporting our group. I am particularly grateful for the way they were willing and able to cater around my many and varied food allergies! I also really enjoyed walking through such a beautiful environment with knowledgable guides who were able to take us off the beaten track to see some really special places, and also to encourage us to challenge ourselves physically. Those side trips elevated the walk to a really amazing experience...of course it helped we had such good weather, which gave us the opportunity to ascend Cradle Mtn and Pelion East, plus enjoy all the swimming opportunities!!
Looking forward to the next adventure.

S. Keele Vic, Australia
