Classic Larapinta Trek
Since 1995, we've led the way in this outstanding trekking destination and our new stylish semi-permanent campsites continue to set the standard on the Larapinta Trail. This is a fully supported trek and all the camping equipment is transported by vehicle to beautifully designed and comfortable permanent campsites, complete with hot showers and warm dining tents, exclusive to our groups. The Larapinta Trek is one of the best walks in Australia and the most popular walk with our travellers. On the high ridge lines of the West MacDonnell Range you'll gain a rare perspective of the vast flood plains & rocky outcrops that form this ancient land. Carrying only a daypack, you will walk between eight and sixteen kilometres each day. On arrival, you'll find great facilities in splendid isolation and bush tucker that exceeds all expectations. You'll have plenty of time to reflect on the dynamic landscape with walks that are as achievable as they are satisfying. At times the trail descends from the ridgeline into narrow canyons where delicate ferns and twisted gum trees grow from dry rivers of sand. The trail will also visit the impressive Simpsons Gap and Standley Chasm. An opportunity to ascend Mt Sonder (1380m) to gain a perfect vantage point from where you can see the length of the entire West MacDonnell Range is a fitting finale to this exceptional desert walking experience.
