Community Projects

Community Projects

This unique range of Community Project Travel itineraries offers travellers the opportunity to participate in fantastic small group adventures that include time spent working on projects which improve the living conditions of isolated communities or remote and fragile environments throughout the world. A component of each trip cost goes towards the materials and local expertise necessary to complete the project. Canoeing

Jump in ... for a canoe ride down the Katherine River on our Kakadu & Beyond itinerary ! No previous experience is required, just a sense of fun. Life vests are provided.

The vehicles we use on our Australia adventures are Toyota Land cruisers. We take a maximum of eight passengers plus a driver. The rear seating arrangement is generally centre-facing i.e. seating along each side of the vehicle. All our vehicles are registered as commercial tourist (passenger carrying) vehicles. 

Cycling

Experience the world at handlebar level and explore the coast line and historic towns of the east coast of Tasmania. All our programs have support crew and a back up vehicle so you can cycle at your own pace and stop as frequently as you like.

We offer 3 cycling trips in Tasmania, a 7 day Cycle Tasmania trip, a 6 day heritage cycle ride and a 13 day Tasmania Panorama that combines a 7 day cycle with a 6 day trek.

Kayaking

There is little doubt that kayaking is a fine way to explore the coastline, and our Hinchinbrook Island and Coral Sea adventure explores the waters around Australia's largest island national park.

It is expected that you have attempted sea kayaking prior to joining our sea kayaking adventure and have a sound fitness level of fitness in order to complete the three to seven hours of kayaking per day.

Rafting

Rafting
We tackle the whitewater rapids of the world renowned Franklin River in Tasmania. If you have never been in a raft before don’t worry we can teach you the basics and ensure that your trip lives up to expectations. Although rafting the Franklin does not require any previous rafting experience the whitewater rapids and the terrain necessitates a solid outdoors background in order to fully participate.

Sailing

There is no better way to explore the remote coast of north west Arnhem Land and Tiwi Islands than sailing in the catamaran, Sundancer. This 7 day voyage allows access to rarely visited locations such as the ruined 1830's British colony of Victoria settlement and explore Port Essington on the Cobourg Peninsula. Sailing across the Timor Sea you will also be able to visit the Pirlangimpi Community and the renowned Minupi Arts Centre.

Trekking is the perfect way to explore the Australian and our small group treks allow you to experience some of Australia's remote wilderness areas.

Discover the renowned Larapinta Trail in Central Australia, the spectacular Cape to Cape and Bibbulmun Track in Western Australia, or Tasmania's finest walks near Cradle Mountain, or Freycinet Peninsular.


Trekking requires that you carry a daypack to hold your requirements for the day including at least one litre of water, a pullover, wet weather gear, some snacks and your camera gear. Trekking days can range from 4-8 hours a day depending on the grading.

Our Cradle Mountain Trek and South Coast Track trips in Tasmania are examples of treks that require you to carry a full pack. We require you carry up to 20kgs in your pack, which may include your clothing for the entire trek, some food and camping equipment.
