Join celebrity chef and restauranter Peter Kuruvita as he uncovers Tasmania's premier food experiences on a jam packed food lover's tour of the Apple Isle.

Watch on and help out as Peter prepares fresh seafood and curry feasts with the best local ingredients, learn how to shuck oysters fresh from the rack in the Freycinet Peninsula, taste Tasmania's local boutique brews and wine, watch your guides dive for abalone on a Seafood Seduction Tour and then enjoy the spoils from your exclusive boat nestled in the coves around Bruny Island.

You'll hunt for truffles with Tasmania's premier producer of world-class black truffles, meet farmer's behind Australia's Finest Grass Fed Beef at Cape Grim, and get to know the secrets behind some of the best local jam and honey makers on the island.

These are just some of the experiences you can expect and all with Tasmania's iconic destinations as your backdrop including the Bay of Fires, Freycinet Peninsula, Cradle Mountain, and the Gordon River on Tasmania's wild west coast.

Along the way Peter will share stories and facilitate your enjoyment of Tasmania's rich food scene and your local Tasmanian Guides will pepper the tour with stories of Tasmania's fascinating and often challenging history as well as open your eyes to the wonder of Tasmania's unique flora and fauna.

After collecting you from your hotel or airport (one group pick-up on selected arrival flight) we will drive out to the Bay of Fires via Pyengana Dairy home of Australia’s Heritage Farmhouse Cheese. With 130 years of tradition producing handcrafted award-winning cheese Pyengana will not disappoint, enjoy tasting the variety of cheeses presented by their head cheese maker, to explain the process and answer any of your questions. We will enjoy an elaborate tasting plate for lunch while your guides give you an overview of the next 10 days From here we will make out way to our accommodation in the Bay of Fires and settle in for a relaxing afternoon and enjoying the spoils of travelling with a Chef, which is a curry feast prepared by Peter Kuruvita using local Tasmanian produce. A special smoking ceremony will be held this morning on the beach at the Bay of Fires. Following the ceremony, we will take a short trip south to meet Dennis and Ann at Eureka farms for a hands on lesson in Jam making and preserves from the berry growers themselves. Continuing South toward the Freycinet Peninsula we will drop by the Ironhouse Brewery where we'll get to taste some of their amazing local whisky, before continuing to the Freycinet Peninsula. Once we arrive at our accommodation at the Freycinet lodge we'll take some time to settle in as we will be here for 2 nights This evening we will indulge in a set menu at the Lodges' award winning restaurant. This morning we'll gear up in life vests and head out for a kayak in the beautiful Coles Bay, stopping at Honeymoon Bay for a delicious chef prepared local seafood lunch. In the afternoon you will have the option to join your guides on a 2-3 hour walk to the world renowned Wine Glass Bay, arguably one of the most famous and photographed places in Tasmania, if the sun is out you might even want to indulge in a swim. Dinner: Freycinet Lodge (possible cooking demonstration with Peter) Accommodation: Freycinet Lodge

This morning we will be putting on our waders for a 2 hour guided tour of the Freycinet Marine Farm, where you'll learn from a genuine oyster farmer how they grow their juicy oysters. You'll learn how to shuck an oyster and you'll taste delicious pacific oysters fresh out of the water. Follwing our oyster farm experience we'll head to Devil's Corner for some of their freshly made pizzas. We'll then make our way to Hobart. On arrival we'll head straight to the Cascade Female Factory Historic Site where we will take a short Heritage tour that will help bring the story of this challenging but very special place to life for you. For those who are keen, you can also head over to the Cascade Brewing Factory, the oldest Brewery in Australia, and home to a wonderful variety of local brews! Dinner in Hobart. Get ready for a day to remember as you embark on Pennicott Wilderness journeys Gourmet Seafood Seduction tour. We board our private vessel and cruise down the Derwent River and into the sheltered waters of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel that surround Bruny Island. As we voyage south, we leave all traces of civilisation behind. Your Guides on board have an in depth knowledge of the local environment and in the company of Peter you are in for an absoloute treat today. You will enjoy oysters shucked straight from the water, rock lobster and see your guide dive for abalone and sea urchin. You will be delighted as your catch is turned into a delicious seafood feast accompanied by gourmet local produce and Tasmanian wines, boutique beers, ciders and juices. As the only licenced operation in the world who can dive for and prepare fresh abalone on board their vessels this is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Back on land this evening we will enjoy dinner at one of Hobart's celebrated restaurants. Accommodation: Moss Hotel

We depart Hobart this morning and head to Strahan stopping off for one of our Guide's hand picked walks along the way. Upon our arrival in Strahan we will have some time to settle into our accommodation before going down the road to enjoy a local theatre performance ‘The Ship That Never Was’, run by The Round Earth Company, who specialise in researching and telling local stories. We will cap off the day back at our accommodation with a delicious 3-course meal. Dinner: Risby Cove Accommodation: Risby Cove

Today we spend our time on the Gordon River Cruise experiencing the magic of the Macquarie Harbour. A well earnt leisurely afternoon will be spent in Strahan, accented with a tasting selection from the Iron Pot Bay Vineyard and cooking demonstration with your host Peter Kuruvita collaborating with the Risby Cove chefs for a sumptuous seafood dinner. Dinner: Risby Cove Accommodation: Risby Cove

Today we head to the iconic Cradle Mountain National Park. On arrival we'll pack our picnic lunch and enjoy the stunning 6km circuit around Dove Lake, one of Tasmania's premier walks. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore more of the short walks in the area or sit back and soak up the scenery from our accommodation. Dinner and Overnight, Pepper's Cradle Mountain

We depart Cradle Mountain early this morning to visit the Blue Hills Honey farm in Mawbanna. With over 60 years of experience within the family they will tell you all you could want to know about the local honey industry and sustainable bee keeping – maybe they will even let you try. Try a sample of the islands famous Leatherwood Honey over afternoon tea. In the afternoon, we have yet another incredible experience in store. We will be heading to Cape Grim, home of Australia's Finest Grass Fed Beef. In the afternoon you will be taken to a local farm where you will meet the farmers and their cattle, after which you will have a 3 course dinner of local fare with the Cape Grim Beef as the hero – naturally! Our accommodation tonight will be in the quaint seaside town of Stanley. Accommodation: Stanley Sea View

Today we'll head to Deloraine, home to Tasmanian Truffles, Australia’s premier producer of world-class black truffles. We'll gain an insight into this exquisite industry on a truffle hunt followed by lunch. We'll make our way to Launceston in the afternoon where we'll have time to relax before getting together for a final celebratory dinner. Dinner: Black Cow Accommodation: Verge Hotel, Launceston

You may know Peter from your TV screens and his popular TV series' on SBS. His shows; “My Sri Lanka with Peter Kuruvita”, “Island Feast with Peter Kuruvita”, “Mexican Fiesta with Peter Kuruvita” and “Peter Kuruvita’s Coastal Kitchen“ combine beautiful scenery with sensational local cuisine.

He really knows how to bond with locals anywhere over a mutual love of food & produce, and get them to divulge their cooking secrets and local lore.

His career as an award-winning chef and restaurateur has spanned 4 decades and many iconic establishments. Sydney’s Flying Fish Restaurant & Bar, Bilson's Restaurant Sydney Harbour, Hayman Island Resort, Flying Fish Fiji and his current residence, Noosa Beach House at the Sofitel Noosa Resort.

Peter is famous for his signature style of quality local produce with a focus seafood, spiced with Sri Lankan and world flavours.

Peter’s childhood experiences cooking with his grandmother in the traditional kitchen of his ancestral home in Colombo, Sri Lanka not only inspired his cooking career, but also resulted in his first cookbook “Serendip – My Sri Lankan Kitchen”. A further 2 cookbooks followed; “My Feast with Peter Kuruvita” - a culinary and cultural journey through the island communities of Asia and the South Pacific and ‘Lands of the Curry Leaf’ - A vegetarian journey through the Subcontinent
