Itinerary

We will pick you up from DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront at 1 Barrack Square, Perth at 7.30am. From here we depart Perth and journey south through Western Australia’s beautiful South West to the world-famous Margaret River region, arriving at Ellensbrook in time for lunch before setting out on our first walk. From Ellensbrook, the Cape to Cape Track quickly leaves the coast and meanders through rolling sand dunes, passing the historic Ellensbrook Homestead and Meekadarabee Falls. Continuing south, we discover the secluded coves of Gnoocardup and the turquoise waters of Kilcarnup before reaching Horseshoe Bay, where we can marvel at a centuries-old osprey nest. Our walk then takes us along some of the region’s renowned surfing coastline towards Prevelly, with sweeping views across the Indian Ocean, before finishing near the mouth of the Margaret River. From here we transfer to our accommodation at Surfpoint Resort. As the day concludes, we regroup, share stories and enjoy a delicious dinner. This spectacular first walk provides a wonderful introduction to the diverse coastal landscapes and natural beauty that await over the coming days. Walking distance: 14km | Approx drive time: 3-4 hours

After breakfast we return to Prevelly and continue south along the Cape to Cape Track. From the limestone ridge at Prevelly, the trail descends into the sheltered creek line of Boodjidup Brook before continuing towards the white sands of Boodjidup Beach and historic Redgate Beach. From here, we enter what is considered one of the most spectacular sections of the Cape to Cape Track, following the scenic coastal cliffs around Bob’s Hollow and Contos. Sweeping views across the Indian Ocean accompany us as we make our way along this dramatic stretch of coastline before the landscape changes once again and we enter the majestic karri forest, home to some of the tallest hardwood trees in the world. While today is a longer day on the trail, the generally solid track underfoot and welcome afternoon shade of the karri forest make for enjoyable walking. We finish our journey near Lake Cave before transferring back to our accommodation at Surfpoint Resort, where we can relax and enjoy a delicious dinner after a rewarding day on the Cape to Cape Track. Walking distance: 18km | Approx drive time: 30-45mins

Today we leave the Margaret River region behind and journey deeper into Western Australia’s spectacular South West, exchanging the rugged coastline of the Cape to Cape Track for the towering karri forests associated with the Bibbulmun Track. Our journey takes us through picturesque countryside towards Beedelup National Park. Here we stretch our legs on a beautiful 4.5-kilometer circuit through lush forest to Beedelup Falls. Surrounded by towering trees and dense native vegetation, the walk provides a striking contrast to the open coastal landscapes of the previous two days. We take time to enjoy the falls and explore the surrounding forest before continuing to our accommodation. Depending on our day's schedule, there may also be an opportunity to stop at the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk, one of the South West's local attractions along the way. This evening we settle into the Karma Chalets in the Denmark region and regroup over dinner and prepare for the next stage of our journey, when we join some of the finest coastal sections of the Bibbulmun Track. Walking distance: 4.5km | Approx drive time: 2-3 hours

After breakfast, we transfer to Parry Beach to begin today’s walk towards Lights Beach. This spectacular section of the Bibbulmun Track showcases some of Western Australia’s most beautiful coastal scenery, with sandy trails, coastal heath and sweeping views across the Southern Ocean. As we make our way along the undulating coastline, we pass the striking granite formations of Elephant Rocks before reaching the calm turquoise waters of Greens Pool. Here we take time to relax and enjoy a refreshing swim in this beautiful sheltered bay. After lunch, we continue along the coast towards Lights Beach, where the landscape becomes increasingly rugged and offers stunning views across the ocean and pristine shoreline. Upon completing our 14.7-kilometre walk, we transfer back to Karma Chalets and settle in for a well-earned evening of relaxation amongst the peaceful surrounds. After a rewarding day exploring the natural wonders of the south coast, we can unwind and recharge for the next day’s adventure. Walking distance: 14.7km | Approx drive time: 2 hours spread throughout the day

Today we return to Lights Beach and continue along the Bibbulmun Track towards Denmark. This beautiful section showcases the diversity of Western Australia’s southern coastline, with sandy trails, coastal heath, secluded coves and expansive beaches along the way. As we follow the coast, there are wonderful views across the Southern Ocean and plenty of opportunities to appreciate the region’s rugged natural beauty. Approaching Denmark, the trail leads us towards this relaxed coastal town, where there will be time to explore before transferring back to Karma Chalets. This evening we can relax and recharge after another rewarding day on the Bibbulmun Track. Walking distance: 14.7km | Approx drive time: 1.5 hours spread throughout the day

As we trek from Shelley Beach, the rugged beauty of the coastline accompanies our journey, with panoramic ocean vistas providing a stunning backdrop. The trail meanders through coastal heathlands, offering glimpses of unique flora and birdlife native to the region. As we approach Mutton Bird Beach, the landscape transitions into a beautiful stretch of sandy coastline. At the completion of our walk, we transfer back to Karma Chalets for our final evening in the Denmark region, where we can relax after another rewarding day on the trail. Walking distance: 12.5km | Approx drive time: 45 minutes spread throughout the day

Meals:  B,L,D

Today we swap the Bibbulmun Track for one of Albany's most rewarding coastal walks, the spectacular Bald Head Walk on the Flinders Peninsula. The 13.5-kilometre return trail follows the narrow peninsula through Torndirrup National Park, with outstanding views across King George Sound, the Southern Ocean and the rugged coastline stretching towards the horizon. The route includes a number of steep and challenging sections as we make our way towards Bald Head, but the dramatic coastal panoramas make the effort worthwhile. On our return journey we visit two of Albany's best-known natural attractions, The Gap and Natural Bridge, where the power of the Southern Ocean has sculpted the granite coastline over thousands of years. We then return to our accommodation in Albany to freshen up, with time later in the day to explore Albany and enjoy its relaxed atmosphere. Walking distance: 13.5km | Approx drive time: 1 hours spread throughout the day

Meals:  B,L,D

Our final morning begins at Albany's ANZAC Peace Park/Mount Clarence precinct, where elevated viewpoints provide wonderful vistas across King George Sound and the surrounding landscape. Here our guides prepare a hearty breakfast as we enjoy our final morning together. Depending on timing, there may be an opportunity to further explore Albany and its significant ANZAC history before beginning our journey north to Perth. We travel through the Great Southern region, stopping along the way for lunch and breaks before arriving back in Perth, where our Cape to Cape and Bibbulmun Track adventure comes to an end. Experience an exhilarating eight-day walking adventure combining spectacular sections of two of Western Australia’s iconic long-distance trails – the Cape to Cape Track and the Bibbulmun Track. The journey takes you through a diverse range of terrain, from rugged coastal paths, sandy beaches and rolling dunes to towering karri forests and rocky headlands. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views across the Indian and Southern oceans, pristine beaches, secluded bays and some of the South West’s most impressive coastal scenery. The varied terrain, including undulating trails, sandy sections and some steep ascents and descents, provides a rewarding challenge and an immersive walking experience through the remarkable landscapes of Western Australia’s South West. For optimal preparedness, we recommend engaging in one hour of vigorous exercise four times a week, such as cycling, jogging, or walking. Mix in demanding bushwalks with a day pack. Once a week, incorporate a few hours of walking with a weighted day pack (4–7kg) to enhance leg strength and aerobic fitness. To best simulate the upcoming adventure, train on uneven terrain, finding hilly, rough bush tracks, and take long walks in your trekking boots. Include multi-day walks in your training regimen and, if possible, integrate sand walking for a comprehensive preparation.
